If we decide to spend a day to seeing the Erg Chebbi Desert Merzouga, there is no better way to explore the sites and have fun than in a 4 x 4 vehicle. An interesting option is to combine it with a visit to the nearby necropolis and prehistoric rock carvings, first visiting this area and then returning to camp in the dunes or dune field southwest, about 4 km, where there is a marshy area that remains covered with water during the rainy season, Dayet Srji. Many birds, especially pink flamingos, drop by on a regular basis.
Another little lake is located on the northern side of the large dune, and it has a much more striking aspect due to the stark contrast between the golden dunes and the deep blue of the water. We take a break for some wonderful pizza before continuing on to a Berber town where the vibrant residents, Gwana, entertain us with traditional music. – Midday lunch, beverages, and gratuities are not included in the price.
